Tell us a little bit about yourself (Age, Location, etc.)

I’m Mazi, the webmaster and editor-in-chief of 3D Wars. I’m 16 years old and live in southern California (Mission Viejo to be exact). I go to high school and am currently a junior.

Tell us some history and how you got 3D Wars Started? What gave you the idea for the site, as it is pretty unique?

The idea was obtained while I was at a press summit in San Jose over the summer of 99. I was talking with a friend up there and we were thinking of starting our own site. However, he was not in the position to do any writing or ‘site work,’ so he just provided the funding. I came up with the idea, because I just loved reading those head to head comparisons at the established sites on the net. So…after months of preparing, we finally launched and started the net’s ‘source for computer industry rivalries.’

How long do you spend working on 3D Wars a week?

It depends, but I’d have to say that the average time is about 30 hours a week. I still go to school, so I can’t spend as much time as I’d like to, but it is enough to get the job done.

How many people do you have working for 3D Wars? Can you tell us a bit about your staff and what they do?

I’ve got one guy working for me and he’s my best bud. Name…Steven. He does the graphic work and also writes for us too. Overall, he’s a great guy and fun to hang out with. He’s also my sparring partner too!

Who designed 3D Wars, and what sort of technologies did they/you use?

Our designer is my mentor on the web. Well, he used to be…basically, he taught me everything. His name is Moran and he’s the genius behind Power of Sight. As for what he uses…who knows and who cares. His work is very nice and I like it. I think it’s a family secret or something…

Who are your influences in life and why?

I don’t really have any. I want to become a unique individual and do something ‘new,’ so I influences will only lead you down their paths. If I had to chose, it would have to be those guys that came up with something that no one else thought of and totally capitalized on it…the American Dream :-).

What are some of your future plans for 3D Wars, new features, etc?

I have a lot in store for the site. For starters, I just want the site to grow and make sure everyone knows what we offer. Secondly, I want to ‘spread out’ in terms of our services. Maybe add some better news features…convert into a database….team up with other sites to provide one major source for everything. Things of that nature…

Other than computers, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to fight. I spar with friends and with guys that know what they are doing. I do the arts like kick-boxing and jiu-jitsu. They are very fun and very demanding on the body, which is what I like. Other than that, I like to hang out with friends and get rejected by girls at malls and whatnot….it’s fun being young and stupid.

Do you get a lot more of fan mail, or flame mail?

If I post an article that was good for the day, I’ll get fan mail. If no one liked it, I’ll get rants left and right. I remember one article I wrote on how to get hardware for real cheap. It was a record day for hits with that article and the feedback was unreal. I must have of gotten about 250 e-mails, all of mixed emotions. Overall, I think it’s pretty much fan mail and ‘help’ mail. Help mail as in, ‘what should I do or buy’, etc…
