Even with a card that "just stacks up" to the latest nVidia card (that actually seems more forward thinking than the NV15 IMO), ATI seems to be getting on the right track.

If you compare their previous chip (the Rage128 Pro) to the current Radeon, there is quite the leap in performance. In addition, they are currently undergoing a restructuring of their driver department, and are using the Radeon has a foundation for new unified drivers that will probably help overall stability.


I wouldn't discount Matrox either. They've been quiet, from our perspective (the poweruser). They're still making money, and they brought us EMBM. I'm curious what they'll cook up with the G800.
