Having just finished to read a novel talking about AI, I find that this article was highly interesting.

But you talk of it as a concept, and while you give information, you don't go anywhere near the actual workings of it. Hopefully, that will come later, seeing as that was Part 1 of a series of articles.

Very good read, but I felt like it lacked actual information and was more oriented toward the face recognition system only.

Do we really want this to become mainstream ? It would be, in essence, to forfeit private life to give machines AI and CV. Everybody would be tracked daily by numerous computers.

I personally don't like the idea of a Big Brother. I'd rather be able to do everything I want without being overly followed. Claiming you want to protect against terrorists seems to be a valid way to have the public agree to almost anything nowadays. One big attack and suddenly, everything is worth it.

Giving intelligence to computers means, of course, that we need to give them a sort of conscience. First, to know what they should and shouldn't report and secondly, so that, if the need arises, they can make informed decisions. The set of rules we'd implement would be flawed by the very fact that we are the ones implementing them. Humans are not perfect, and thus neither are machines, our creation.

AI is discussed as something that is wonderful and that will solve countless problems. And I'd put forward that it's further proof that many scientists are dreamers with no link to the real world. Have they not thought about the impacts an actual AI would have on this world ? Anything could happen. You're basically making a fast thinking human that never sleeps and has access to countless sources of information, through the net.

I find the study of AI and CV to be a most entertaining thing, and will probably try to look into such matter more extensively, but I'm not sure if making such things would be for the best ...
