What do you thinkg of this little guy?
I was going to do a review on this HSF, but do to the lack of 1U HSFs in my collection, I think I'll just write a blurb instead.
The heatsink doesn't cool any better than any full size fan and isn't quieter than any full size fan... So what's the point? It's a 1U spec copper heatsink for rack mount cases that, despite being less than 1/2" tall, cools just as well as any standard full size heatsink! The 4800 RPM fan is fairly quiet at 36.5db and does do what it's supposed to do... keep the CPU cool. It's also not too expensive (found for under $20 online).
Most 1U heatsinks do not cool as well either due to material (aluminum is typically used) or the fact that the heatsink is so tall that the fan is up against the top of the 1U rack mount case lid, or are noisy due to a 6000 RPM fan... especially up against that case lid!

Believe me, the server room at my work place is no quiter than any other, but this is one of the best happy mediums I have found. Currently, I have it running in on a PIII 1GHz in a Flex ATX case. You know how small a Flex ATX case is, right?
