Default Microsoft .NET Vs. Sun's Java

A Sun Microsystems Inc. executive told a federal judge on Tuesday that archrival Microsoft Corp. could use its .NET Web-based services strategy to thwart competition and extend its monopoly power to the Internet.

According to an article from Reuters, Sun Microsystems is feeling pretty threatened by Microsoft's .NET.

Sun's chief strategy office, Jonathon Schwartz feels that there needs to be very tough antitrust restrictions put on Microsoft because it can use Windows and IE which is very dominant in the market to promote their .NET platform over Sun's Java programming language.

This is a great article that covers this story in more detail, so definitely check it out and post your opinions, I'd like to hear what you think. Is Microsoft using reasonable business tactics to get their .NET platform to become succesful or are they really starting to monopolize the market? We've seen what happened with IE and Netscape.
