Well, judging from the people I've been around, The sole reason IE has dominance is because of bundleing. If the users actually liked downloading IE, you would expect them to download the security patches, upgrades, and such. I don't see that happening. I have also heard. "I like netscape, but I don't want to download and install it. IE is already there." or "you mean there is something else besides the 'e' icon?" or similiar to that. So I think Sun has very good reason to be afraid.

But check out this article at the register about .NET being dead. Link. I haven't been paying much attention to .NET because I wasn't planing to participate in it, so I appreciate comments on how that link affects that.
