Argh! My problems with the 3D Prophet 4500
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum, but I think that you guys might be able to help me.
I've had my 3D Prophet III 4500 64mb for about six months now, and I think that it's causing my system to crash.
I'm running Windows XP and I often get bluescreens that say "pmxinit.sys" or another "pmx..." file has generated an error and generally messed up everything.
I'm not an avid fan of Hercules, but their card looked interesting and so I decided to buy it.
I've gotten this error message at least once a week for quite some time now, and I think I'm getting ready to buy a new video card. I have the latest drivers from Hercules, and they don't seem to help any. I'm using DirectX 8.1.
My machine is as follows:
Intel PIII 700Mhz
384MB SDRAM
20GB HD (I forget what brand it is)
ASUS CUVX-4D mobo
SoundBlaster Live! sound card
3D Prophet 4500 (duh)
LINKSYS Ethernet adaptor
generic 40x cdrom
HP 9100+ cd burner
KDS 17" monitor
cambridge soundworks 4.1 surround
HP DeskJet 648c
And that's about it.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
