what's the most likely failure cause of not recognizing cd's? the laser is clean for sure, but the cd's don't read. after much tedious retries at discovering the problem i have concluded (successfully?) the thin brown cable sttatched to the laser head and the ic-board has hairline cracks. the failure rate of reads is approaching 100% as time goes on. anyone out there know much about repairing these things or is it like realligning the heads on floppy drives... ie: not worth the time and effort involved vs buying a new drive? thx 4 any help.
