Browser
Devnut,
I'm with you totally on not wanting to start a browser war...been there, done that & have the T-Shirt to prove it! The main reason why I use Netscape is simply because of my own personal experience (hell actually) of using IE. Back in the summer of 1997 I was cruising along using IE and then my system crashed. I spent a VERY long week trying to figure out what caused it. In fact, that was the moment in my life where I decided that if these computers are going to crash on me, I may as well figure out how they run and the rest is history. But that's another story altogether...
I used every utility known to man, conferred with several forums and spoke with a few people that where better versed than I on computers about computers (at least at that time in my life). No one really gave me any answers that were definitive. So I literally broke down and called the Tech Support site for Toshiba (the maker of my old comp) and bit the BIG bullet on paying for tech support for $35. My warranty had just run out 3 weeks earlier but let's not go there!
I figured I'm going to get my money's worth from this guy and told him that right from the beginning. He was extremely helpful and understanding of my position and was willing to bend over backwards for me to help figure out what it was that caused my comp to crash. We spent over 2 hours on the phone (califlower ear and all) and literally tore the computer apart both hardware and software wise. Then we found the culprit.
The version of IE I was using somehow inserted a file in my C:?Windows/System/IOSUBSYS directory that has no damn business being there. (I have this filename written down at home but am at work now) Since we both were taken aback about this, we did some serious detective work and verifed that it did in fact come from IE. That one single file was the cause of my computer crash.
Ever since then, I've been a Netscape user. Sure, it "wacks out" every now and then but it has never crashed my entire computer like IE did. Again, this is my own personal experience and know full well there are people out there (IE users) that either think my results were impossible to determine or aren't open minded enough to think this could have even happened. I lived it, that's all I can tell you. I have NOTHING against IE users, but I'll never be one unless I'm forced to, and occasionlly I am.
