Latency is higher with wireless products because they are all broadcast services. That pretty much means that every node connected to the network hears what you have to say, every packet of damn data--only accepting what is sent for though. The only way that I can see wireless being accepted as a REAL standard is if it starts to accept some rules of the ATM (Asyncronus Transfer Mode) standard. What pretty much happens there, is that a smart peice of firmware is embeded in the hardware switch(router, etc) and a more direct route of serving data to the end user is formed. If this can be transfered to the wireless comunity, I can definatly see it becoming a new standard. But it just is not worth it at all now. Wait!!!

I am damn happy with my 10/100 Full Duplex wired network. 200Mbps is great! (100 up, 100 down)
