hmm I heard about this, mainly that Win98 doesn't usilitize anything over 512 MB of RAM. I'm not sure if this is true though. There might be something in the registry that you have to do but your guess is as good as mine.

As for performance differences with having more RAM. You don't see much difference unless you really use MANY applications at once or use some real mem hogs. I find the difference between 128 and 256 a lot more noticeable than 256 and 512. Probably because I don't use as many programs that make me go over 256 MB, but when I push the system, I can get a lot faster response time with 512 MB compared to 256.

so if you don't see much improvement when increasing from 128 MB to 256 let's say, then you're probably not using up enough memory that it'll be noticeable.
