Well I know it has been a while since my last post, and Anything Chat is somewhat dead, so hopefully I can wake everyone up.
What does everyone think of ICQ? It's really useful and all, but I hate how they have all those useless features.
I've been looking for some time now one of the first versions, which may have less features, but only the ones that I need. If only...:-(.
It seems that ICQ is trying too hard to make ICQ "better" when all they are doing is pissing off users.
I haven't talked to one person who uses that phone service built in ICQ and most of their features are absoluetly useless. My dream is just a ICQ with a Contact List, maybe an ActiveList, Add/Remove Users Feature, and the status (online, N/A, Away, Disconnected, exc). Maybe I should send a e-mail to ICQ about it.
Most people here use ICQ, and I was wondering what everyone else thinks about ICQ right now, and if anyone actually has a good, old version.

I think ICQ is great.. (and my main source of communication with others..). My one gripe is that it's gotten extremely bloated over time.. and has gotten to be quite a ram hog.. (i think it takes something like 16 megs to itself now..).
*sigh*.

I think ICQ is great, but in my opinion it needs a lot of work. The way it is setup is not the best.....In terms of capabilities it's awesome, but I see a lot of quirks.

i use the good ole' icq!
i have been using icq for a couple years now... i use icq 98a. those other versions are way too bloated. i think icq should keep it simple! i usually run icq while i am on my comp (playing online games and things) and the last thing i want icq to do is hog up all my ram!

ICQ used to be good, but it is an extreme case of bloatware. I use 2kA myself, much like the normal 2k version, but with a little less bloat.
Those damn adds caught up to me though
From what I heard, you could code your own program that would use the ICQ network. I might try that this summer (or whenever I feel like it). Go for the minimalist version

Yeah, too true.
They have made versions of ICQ for linux (Jan/Feb of Maximum Linux) and like all of them are junk free.

Yeah...me too. I've been sticking with ICQ 99b. Same great flavor, without the awful AOL aftertaste...And at less than half the filesize too!
As for Instant Messenger, I will eternally be using beta v3.5... :-)
