Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here...
The egg laying orifice in birds is known as the cloaca and shares both a reproductive and excretory function (ie the alimentary canal empties into it as well).
Birds, Reptiles and Monotremes (egg-laying mammals) all have cloacae.

Jason - My roomate is here, he just read that. He asks:

So do they have sex, take a crap, and lay eggs from the same hole? And it's called a cloaca?

Remembering back to the dark days of first year biology, the answer to your question(s) is "Yes".

    Post chickens

i have raised some chickens and i must say, it is unpleasent to wash off the eggs after the chickens lay them. and it's really annoying when your collecting them and the hen pecks your hands bloody. (sometimes you just gotta smack em)
