Think the price will drop big?
On SLDeals they have the Dell 2005FPW LCD which just came out for $679....the 2001FP is listed as the same price...but it's the predecessor. The main difference is the 2001 is widescreen, has a higher resolution, and lower response time.
Do you guys think the 2001FP will drop in price a lot soon because of this? If so, why hasn't it already?

Dell is probably figuring they are aimed at different markets and should not cannibalize on each other’s sales too much. They’ll probably milk it until after Christmas since everyone knows the 2001 is one of the better LCDs out there and it’ll be on a few lists, but then again they could lower the price to spur sales a bit. There aren’t too may 20 inch LCDs out there that could beat it for a better price. I’ll say the best price should be after Thanksgiving if you are in a rush or after Christmas for the safe bet.

I agree with Renz, and often there are some deals for the 2001FP (not sure about the new model) to get it under $600, for a 20" LCD thats a steal. I used to have the 2001FP, best monitor I've ever used, bar none/

IMO The new monitor looks ugly because of those speakers.

what I would do is find out who is making the lcd, and then find out who else is and look at there models
if I remember right there are only three companies that make lcd's
Dell is over priced for what you get
