    Question I don't understand

    ...I just don't understand.

Yes, the PowerMac Tower is a gorgeous computer. Its stylish "graphite" color, its glassy smoothness, its flowing lines...

...all of which are completely undermined by those rectangular biege drives peering out of the front of the case. They're the absolute antithesis of all which makes the G4 look good. Stuffing them into the front makes a mockery of everything beautiful about the computer.

The result of this is no more attractive than those knock-offs down at Best Buy with colored plastic panels tacked onto the front of a plain old beige case.

I congratulate the ingenuity of this transplant on a technical level. But personally I'd prefer to have a totally biege box computer than this deformed G4; at least a biege box would have visual integrity.

    Eeesh.

To get it to fit into a cube, a lot of things would need to change. For one, you'd probably have to underclock the hell out of either an AMD chip, or Intel, so that it wouldn't melt the cube. Either that or use a Cyrix chip....heh.

This makes me want to vomit! That poor G4 case! Home to a disgustingly slow Wintel machine! Makes me want to cry.

". I don't have the CD bezel right now because I haven't ordered it yet, but there are two separate bezels for the CD-ROM drive. One is just a rectangular rim that goes around the CD-ROM faceplate, and the other is the pop-out door you've probably seen in most G3 and G4 towers. If you've got a buddy at an Apple store or service center, then they can probably order both for you."

yea the CD-ROM and floppy need some work... just have to understand that the case is not complete by any means...

Default Having your mac friends see this boot windows

Mac people wouldn't have to see this system boot up, they could just listen to it "Screech.. Scrunch... Screech... Scrunch" and know that something was terribly wrong. Then again, they might fall asleep before it's done booting. For the most part, it would be pretty boring.

    Thumbs down sad people

I always laugh when i see articles like this written by a sorry ass PC user who needs a good whack to the head.
or should i laugh? maybe i should feel sorry for you guys instead - maybe the equivalent of a pathetic PC user ripping the heart out of an amazing machine so his cheaply made computer actually looks decent for once is that of a middle age man getting his dick enlarged so his wife doesn't leave him for a handsome mac user.
thanks for reminding me that my mac is superior

Jeesh, the point of the article isn't about mac vs. PC...it's simply about getting a PC to use a beautiful G4 case

    where was the mac bashing?

BTW -- there was no rippage of a G4 system. It was a CASE, which was bought INDEPENDANTLY of a system. I myself would yell at Drew if he did that....G4's are nice machines, I've used them quite a bit.

A bunch of Mac sites posted our article, that's why there are so many Mac defenders here We have nothing against Macs here, we love the G4 case so much we wanted to show how to allow a PC to use it

    Welcome to SL Maccies

    Yeah!

I dont know why the people reacting like that . MAC and PC are both good computer , depend on what software your using . I sell both of it and both have good and bad point . What the hell , Mac make some great case and why not merge these two .

I agree that windows is not greatest software on earth but man this guy just make some heavy tweaking to put this PC on this case . And it just fun to know that you can do this .

This is ridiculus , people make a religious war for nothing . You cant say that a religion is better than another one . If you want make this kind of comment go on the slashdot forum .

    damnit ! :furious

Exclamation A Macintosh running Windows 98...there's a first???

Have you not heard of Virtual PC??

Oh well. Since satan lives in Redmond, this must be his handywork. Why go through the trouble of cr@ping up a beautiful case by cutting out holes and drilling?

Why not run Linux or BSD (or even OS X) on the hardware that came with the case?

I have never wanted to put my Dell guts inside my G4 case. You do get MAJOR points for effor though.

Question What a farkin' waste of time!

Jesus, if you're going to bastardize a good case, the least you could do is put a decent processor and Windows OS in it!

Just like a PC Boy to spend 35 hours making a good design uglier and slower, and calling it progress because you can run Windows 98 on the resulting mess.

*sigh* I mentioned virtual PC waaaaaaaaaaay up top. The idea is, turn on the machine, and windows boots. Sure you can run virtual PC, but it's not like it "boots up" into Windows 98.

Why does that matter to you anyway? It's a small point......yeesh.

Have you ever seen people work on cars, just for fun? Seen them mod their cars, just for fun? Maybe it's not a "high class" activity, but some people have hobbies. Case modding is one.

Um....he mentioned it was a slow machine. The job was not for the sake of making a fast machine, the project was done on a budget.
