Angry Baby did a bad bad thing

I had been researching the Vision Tek Cinema Everything PC card for a few several months before your review. I was very pleased with your review as an affirmation to my research, so I purchased the unit. I must share with you and your readers the horrible experience I have had with Visiontek. The DVD & DVR software are third party programs and Visiontek has chosen to limit the software to only playing our of 4 speakers instead of 5.1 (for an extra $49 you can get this feature in the full version). The software for the DVR and Internet interface that allows the product to work like Tivo is not working properly and the technical people have no clue on how to fix. Apparently they have been shipping product without a website interface for you to utilize the DVR features. I am a technology expert at a major financial firm, so I thought this was highly unusual behavior for a significant company, but apparently Visiontek believes in terrible service because I have contacted the office of the president, manager supervisor and their internal press person regarding this issue and no one has returned my calls for over a month. I wanted to give Visiontek the benefit of the doubt and time to respond to my complaints before I started flaming them in the media. The only good thing about this card is the Nvidia chip set.

By the way, this does not give any more strenght to your opinion and demands ...

About the crippled software : that's a shoddy practice, unless it was clearly stated on the box the software was not the full version. Something about false advertisement

Yeah I agree with you on the aspect of the software not being to great. As I stated in my review, the Tivo features weren't working properly (oddly enough some people had it working perfectly), I did not know about the 5.1 channel issue though and thank you for making me aware.

I will try and contact Visiontek and see what's up with that.

    I will post an update.

    Lightbulb Xtasy Everything

I ordered the Visiontek Xtasy everything a few days ago before I read your article. I haven't received it yet, but I am hoping I made a good choice.

The wire you mentioned in your review, described as "a wire that has the red/white composite wires and on the other end is a 1/8" audio jack", is an audio cable. It is used to connect a 1/8" mini stereo jack, such as those on sound cards, to an audio receiver with RCA jacks. The white color is for the left channel; red is for the right. It is not intended to be part of the composite video input cables. Hope this helps!

Like i said before ..... I just bought this card and i didn't see anything wrong with the tuner .

This card is great for the performance and give me a alot of feature and fun like hell . The DVR program work great , it a bit slow to load video but i can live with this.

For the speaker i cant say anything about it i use a 3 speaker system . I didn't try the website for the DVR wet but why would you want to use it anyway .

This card worth the price for my personnal use . I didn't try all the feature wet . I think by flaming Visiontek in the media is a bit exagerate , maybe Mr.unregistered alias "Ian Goldey " must calm down a bit or return your card and buy something else .

Another alternative is the All-In-Wonder from ATI. Look for our review on that in the next 2 weeks or so.

    Angry Xtasy Issues

Hey to all who read this:

I bought the VisionTek Xtasy Everything online a month ago. The thing has decided to quite a stubborn SOB. I followed the instructions from the very thin fold out manual to the T. I put the card in my system and connected my monitor and the little neon cord and box and powered on my system. During boot up, I received a nice little flashing warning message that said something to the degree of:
Warning!: SDR cannot find Dimm(s); 1,2
The boot up proceeded as normal and Windows loaded. My computer found the new hardware and I canceled it like the manual stated. Then the desktop switched to a black screen with a flashing cursor and I could do nothing. I rebooted and the computer checked my drives for errors and found five. Then it froze on the the system check screen. I had to reboot again. It rechecked my drive, it froze again and I rebooted again. This time, I started Windows in safe mode and got in. So the only way I can get this card to function at all is in safe mode. So I installed the drivers for the damn thing and let it reboot. This time it loaded with no freeze ups, BUT... during the windows start up, when it tried to play the Windows start theme, it froze up and looped the sound continually to the nice visualization of a blank screen. I did yet another reboot and the same thing happened. And to top this all off, the website that I bought it from decided to not send the receipt with my package (like they clearly stated they would) and have told me that I'm to blame because I must have lost it. So I'm stuck with a $184.57 vid card that doesn't work in my machine (That was built well within the minimum requirements) and I can't return it or get the warranty from Visiontek. I called VisionTek's customer service line and got put on hold for over an hour. So I e-mailed them but never heard back. Anybody wanna buy a vid card that only works in safe mode?

I have a question about this card and software. Can you set it to record every episode of a series like ReplyTV can? So, would I be able to tell it to record Simpsons and it would record every episode that airs (of course, not recording duplicate episodes)? Thanks
