Be careful with the LiteOn LVW-5001, the tv-tuner is MONO !!!!
This is confirmed by LiteOn Europe, they mounted a MONO tuner !!
You will NOT be able to record tv-programs in stereo !!!!!

Article is mostly fluff. Not much substance.
I wonder how much time the reviewer actually spent with unit?

Hm, yeah, that stuff about the tuner and "how difficult" it is to record is just bizarre. It's *always* a pain to record from cable/satellite. And what other DVD recorders have a built-in TV guide? very few...

And DVD+ is a better format than DVD- anyway, and it's hardly uncommon.

If it indeed is mono it doesn't matter much. Since I would use my direct tv receiver or digital cable box to record.

On the Faq section of the LiteOn site, the technical staff talks about a problem related to warm temperature inside and all around the unit....

It's interesting to see that the LiteOn LVW-5001 DOES NOT HAVE a refrigerating cooler on his back...

All others DVD Home Recorder have one cooler on their back side.

What do you think about ?

Mine works great and does just what we bought it for - transferring old camcorder tapes to DVD. Quit complaining!

hi i got a liteon 5001 to day and looking for the software to take of copyright will the software for the 5005 do this job on the 5001 thanks billy
