    Question

Is it possible to have 3 hdds in a Raid 0 system?

I've heard that it requires an equal number of identical drives (2,4,6,8) ??

    Default RAID Myth

RAID striping is all about partitions and the efficient use of them.

There's several imks out on the web about this technology.

    Here is but 1...
    RAID 4 Linux

    Here's another
    RAID explained

To answer your specific question, not neccessarily. There really is no requirement to even the hdd numbers but it does make setup a little easier.

Short answer: Sure - RAID 0 just stripes data accross multiple disks. Two to however many you can hang on your system - though the OS may limit you too.
The even number requirement DOES apply to RAID 1 - that's a mirror set. Takes 2 and only 2 disks.
Also appliles to RAID (0+1) - a mirrored stripe set. That does indeed require an even number of disks.
