well, i finally went and got me a new puter and passed along the k6-2 350 to my kids. only bad thing to my new puter is that i couldnt afford to go out and buy all the parts so i had to by a name brand. i went with the HP 8860: TBird@1GHz 128 pc133 60 gig hard drive, tnt vanta 16mb video, 8x4x32 cdrw and i got me a 19" viewsonic A90 for the same price as they wanted for the 17" HP monitor.
ran me about $1500 with a scanner, printer, and all the extras like cdr discs and cables etc, etc...kinda makes me mad cuz i know i could build alot better puter than what i got for that amount of money.
im happy with my puter though. its a big step up from my other puter.
an interesting thing that the salesman said to me the night i bought it (i was at best buy). the guy said that HP is going to quit offering the 1GHz/1.2Ghz systems because they are going to go strictly P4's. i think hes full-o-poo but who knows. more than likely best buy is going to go strictly P4's because the average joe is going to look at clock speed and thats about it. i used to be one of those shmucks until i started checking out sites like this one (thanks dave for a kick ass site a year ago i didnt know a pci from an isa slot and now i would do anything for 2 grand to build my own little dream machine
man...i think ive rambled enough for now....time to get to bed

 .. cool..
wow, p4's? that's going to mean some semi-steep price increases there.. you think they would be willing to lose customers over that?

Yeah, definitely agreed. I mean, yes.. the quality of the computers they are selling will improve.. but whether or not the users WANT a more expensive computer is what they should be considering..

I work at a Circuit city. People are dumb.
I've had people come in who are like "I need a system to last me ther next 4 years, I want that 350$ emachine" If I ever see an e-machine go 4 years, I'll be more than amazed.
or the OTHER extreme...
"I need a computer that can run office for me, will that P4 system from sony work?"
oi, vey! some peeps don't get it.
