I have a slot A Athlon motherboard from MSI (MS-6167) and updated the BIOS to support the Athlon slot A thunderbird cpu. The readme file says it supports Slot A thunderbird cpu's up to 850 Mhz. I found 1 Gz slot a cpu's on the internet and I want to know if my current motherboard will support it.

Any help appreciated.

It will support the 1 gig processor as long as the mobo meets to following requirements:
Motherboard Revision: 1.0B with BIOS version: W6167KMS1B7


You should be able to download and update the BIOS as long as your motherboard is at least revision 1.0b. If not, go with a nice Socket A mobo and 1.3 gig T-bird....

The motherboard's BIOS is revision 1.0A, the model is W6167MS V1.6 083000 and the serial # is 08/30/2000-AMD-75X-W977-6A6S2M49C-00. What socket A motherboard would you recommend?
