    Raul,

First of all if you register, you get e-mails when somebody replies to your post with a link to your post, so you should register

But between the drives, the 7200RPM ATA100 is MUCH better than the 5400RPM ATA66 drive.

the 5400 vs. 7200 numbers is the revolutions per minute. The faster it is the better, 7200 is good, and makes a big difference between 5400 and 7200. As for ATA66 and ATA100, ATA100, but you must either have a motherboard compatible or a PCI card to accept ATA100. Luckily ATA100 is backwards compatible, so if your motherboard is ATA66, it will run at ATA66. There is some difference between 66 and 100, but a lot of people will tell you it's not that noticeable. I would look more at the RPM numbers.

    Hope that helps

But the biggest change you see in the HDD is seek time. A 7200 RPM drive will usually be 30% quicker in seek times over a 5400 RPM drive. Plus when you're running an ATA 100 drive on an ATA 66 controller it won't slow down for the most part, it'll still go nearly full speed.

the 7200RPM is worth the extra bucks. (I'll never buy a non-7200 drive again unless its a junk box)
