video card trouble
I've got a problem
My system will not boot
I get a series of beeps that goes like this
BEEEEEP-BEEP-BEEP
On my KT7A this means poorly seated video card or something to that effect.
I have messed with the position in the AGP slot to try to remedy the problem but no luck
I was able to put in an old TNT2 that I had lying around and it worked fine. I think the card is bad so please help
the suspect card is a GIGA-BYTE GA-GF2000
full system specs:
AthlonC 1000 ABIT KT7A
256mb pc133 ram 12x dvd
8x/4x/32x burner soundblaster LIVE!
IBM 75GXP 30gig DEAD GF2 GTS

Can you stick any other AGP cards in there, will they work? (possibly a bad AGP card / slot)
Also Check to see if a PCI card will give you a display (if you have one avalible).

it sounds like either you don't have the bios set up correctly or that the card is just dead
do you have another system to try the card in or have you tried to tweak the bios
i would try using factory default and then work from there
see if that helps

Should have been BETA'd first?
Man... from ABIT's website I am reading all sorts of problems with the KT7A board and different types of video cards.
Abit states that the IRQ is shared between slot1 and the AGP slot. If you can move a card out of slot one to another PCI slot then you might not have problems.
Also it seems that there are power issues with various AGP cards and the KT7A board. The AGP Pro cards draw twice the power of a standard AGP card; but, if that were the case then you wouldn't hear 3 beeps. Your machine just wouldn't boot.
This is an AGP pro model if I remember correctly. I heard from other forum members that if you don't lock an AGP pro card down in an AGP slot you can have major problems. Do you have the plastic lock device on the rear of the AGP slot?
For some possible help, here is a link to a KT7A support site:

Let me know if this was helpful at all to you!
