    Question IRQ 11 - Windows 2000 Pro

Ive got Windows 2000 and I have a question for you all.

Look at your system information - hardware - irq

Do all your cards share IRQ 11?

I have a GeForce2 MX (AGP), SoundBlaster Live (PCI), a Network Card (PCI), and an ISA Modem.

Listed in my IRQ settings, the video, soundblaster, network card, and the usb all share IRQ 11. The ISA modem stands alone.

My main concern is with the sound card. If I could get it to go to a different IRQ, the sound wouldnt crackle in highly graphical intensive games. Please Help.

Yes, IRQ 11 is used quite heavily. You might want to
check the slot connectors on your sound card to ensure
that they aren't "dirty" Also check the slot connection on
the motherboard. This is the common problem for sound
    cards that give "crackly" sounds.
One other thing, check your speaker wire connections,
    make sure there tight.

If you have installed win2k in ACPI mode......then windows takes control over the IRQs. You canīt change them in BIOS. It dosenīt help. But if you install win2k in MPS mode....then you will be able to give a certain PCI-slot a certain IRQ number.

When you Install Windows 2000, you can choose the Standard PC. Then the OS will not use the ACPI configuration. More can be refered from Microsoft Support Site.
