    Question Mystery floppy behavior

    Hi again,
    Got another Pc problem,
I am dealing with a Pc that had previously crashed and had windows reinstalled but the "crashers" did not have the mobo Cd. The pc had 2 floppy drives (51/4 and 31/2) both faulty, Upon replacing the floppy drive here is what happens.

It works well in Dos Mode but doesn't work at all in windows mode.

In device manager the two devices are said to be OK but you cannot read from them at all in Windows (98).

    Please assist

You say the two devices are OK. Are you still using
    a dual floppy combo? 5 1/4 & 3 1/2? If so, you
may have them connected up backwards. check your
CMOS settings and cable connections. Make sure
the 3 1/2 is the A drive. You might have to switch drive
letters to get it to work right.
It's just something that you gotta play with to get right.
