    Unhappy maxtor and quantum merger

just heard on the technology news on the #121 service on my att wireless phone that maxtor and quantum are merging. it also mentioned that they are going to lay off a BUNCH of people. 700 here in the states and 700 in singapore. just thought that i would let everyone know if anyone cares

Yup, I heard about this LONG ago, I talked to somebody at Quantum that told me about it. This must have been a few months ago.

It seems like mergers and take-overs are the only way
PC based companies are going to survive these days.
With everything getting so cheap, it's hard to stay in
    the game and make money.

Right now there's pressure on LG and Samsung to cut back
production on memory chips so the prices can go back up.
