Has Serial ATA disappeared?
I remember reading some whitepapers about this technology nearly two years ago. Like most "great things", it would solve all our problems and make things really rosy.
Sure, the speed boosts would have been really nice, but I for one was more interested in the small profile of the cabling, since it'd be easy to hook up six hard drives with about the same amount of mess as two with IDC ribbon cables. And no more of that clumsy twisting mess either.
However, with every passing Comdex and Computex and PC Expo and CeBIT, nobody ever mentions it anymore, and no motherboard manufacturers or 3rd party OEMs have announced any products, let alone supporting storage devices. Did Serial ATA get slipped under the rug where Micron and Rendition are hiding SocketX?
