Ok I have two computers....a P4 1.7 and P4 1.3. If I wanted to stick the P4 1.3 temprarily in the other system....I have to take off the heatsink to get it out....When putting it back in, should I re-apply thermal grease?

hmm I've also been wondering this... I've been switching CPUs from mobo to mobo lately and i haven't had time to reapply Artic Silver II again... the temps seems to be the same as they were originally so I don't think it matters as long as you have enough on there to make good contact. It is probably better to completely clean the surfaces each time to attach and remove the sink but I think it's kind of a waste. The performance won't be affected that much unless dirt gets in the contact area or something like that. Anyone else have a similar experience?

It should be fine, as long as you take the time to smooth the air out of the material. I did this several times with Arctic Silver, as it was still perfectly useable when I took my heatsinks off my Celeron 466s.
