Computer Wont Turn on
When I turn on my computer it begins to boot but seems to lose power and shut off.... but the thing is the fan keeps going so if you dont listen closely it seems like my computer is still on..... but you looka t the monitor light and its orange instead of green.... As I listen close when I hit the switch to the power supply it makes the ascending sound of the computer powering up then all the sudden it cuts off... and all you hear is the fan.... anyone know whats up? is it my power supply?

Which fan? The one on the CPU, or the power supply? You said you hear it "ascend" -- that's usually associated with the hard drive. Could the power not be plugged in all the way?
Do you get any beeps when it boots up, or is it "blank" like that?

Start by disconnecting as much as possible. Drives, peripheral cards, etc. Leave only the CPU, video card and RAM. If it still doesn't POST, pull the RAM and see if you get a POST code for "no RAM".

ah, i had this happen to a friend, and it turned out to be a burned cpu(hope the same thing doesnt happen to you).
now, open your heatsink, and take a look at the cpu and see if it is burned.... you might be able to tell by sniffing your case as well

well sounds like it could be a power supply problem... same thing happened to me and it turned out to be a PS problem. Disconnect everything and just keep the essentials, CPU, RAM and video. See if that works, if not then switch power supplies and see if it works. If not then your mobo might be the problem or maybe CPU but if it was the CPU you would get at least some sort of error screen i think. Test the power supply with another motherboard if you can and see if you can narrow down the cause. Personally the same exact thing just happened to me and it turned out to be the powersupply and my motherboards. Something must have happened and the motherboard got damaged along with the PS. Good luck and let us know how it goes....

Hey guys, this post was made by my friend Ryan. I went over his house, unhooked everything and it boots up...I don't think it's the power supply.
The wierd thing, it will boot up, but then up to the Starting WindowsME boot logo, the monitor light turns yellow and it's done. The hard drive sounds like it clicks off too....I haven't had a chance to try another hard drive.....but maybe that would be the problem....has anybody heard of anything like this before?

I had a somewhat-similar situation and it turned out that the case's "Power" button had stuck in the connected position. I would flip the power switch on the rear of the power supply, and it would immediately begin to POST, but because the case's power button was effectively being held in, it would shut down after 5 seconds. Tear hair out, repeat.
If that could be the problem, try disconnecting the case power button and manually shorting the mobo pins with a screwdriver.
