    Angry Geforce display problem!! need immediate advice

    Hi there,
    I have an ASUS v6600 Geforce deluxe card and was using Asus drivers based on detonator 6.47. Now, today I installed undying and while playing, it crashed. Problem is, after the crash, the display is corrupted and shows teeny dots on the desktop at random, or when opening any documents. This never happened, until today, and is it a hardware fault, or the driver? I reinstalled the drivers, and nothing, the glitches continue! Has anybody has this sort of problem before? Any replies would be welcome, thanks!

    I think that sort of thing usually happens when the clock speed is changed too far out of spec (either too high, or too low).

    For example, I get the same thing when I change the frequency on my Radeon down too far (down < 140mhz) or too high (greater than 175mhz). Maybe try powerstrip to set the clock speed to exactly what it should be? (Incase it's not?)

    My point was that maybe the crash caused a bit change somewhere that caused the frequency to change. But if that's not possible...then I'm out of ideas

    hmm could be a problem with the drivers. Did you make sure you wiped everything? uninstall the current drivers and install the newest ones. One thing you might want to do is try the card in another system to see if the same thing happens. I haven't heard of a game permanently damaging a video card like that... It might be a power problem also or a problem with the AGP settings or something... are you overclocking your CPU or FSB?

    did you change any configurations before or after you installed the game? if you don't overclock, I can't see you damaging the hardware. What OS are you running? If you uninstall the drivers and just run the card on the default VGA drivers, do you still see the glitches? If you do then it's probably a hardware problem then... other than that I'm pretty baffled here...

    Default Still down!

    Well, I borrowed a 1 MB pci graphics card from a friend who's going out of town for a couple weeks. Now, it sucks, but its better than nothing on the monitor at all, and you know what, to compound everything, my hard disk's started making odd noises too!!!!! I tell you!!!! WHY ME! Anyway, I'm going over to the hospital, I came over to this cyber cafe to take break from the all nighters there at the hospital and I thought I'd just go through the site to see what's been going on!

    Nick is Nick lancaster, btw, and I don't know who he is either! (maybe another staffer?)

    While I've not had to deal with the issues you're dealing with outside of your computer (both you, and he, have my prayers), I have had to deal with crappy video. I used a 512kb ISA video card up until 1998. I had an S3 ViRGE up until this past June :eek;

    I still have that ISA card. It still works too. It's from 1993.
