    [zombie]--must... obtain... AMD SMP... setup...[/zombie]

Highs: runs any SocketA processor in SMP, takes "normal" power supplies, doesn't cost $500

Lows: not very tweakable, still a little more than most of us want to spend at ~$225, requires Registered ECC RAM, may not let you get away with filling 4 DIMM slots with double-sided DIMMs

I just got a single 1.4GHz tbird and I also wonder how hard it would be to cool a dualie. For that task I think an Antec SX10X0 case with four decent 80mm fans would be the minimum, or a Lite-On FS020 with three 120mm's maybe. Or a custom-modded case with a top blowhole perhaps.

Dual T-birds do work, though it's like dual Celerons of yore -- not officially supported.

How much cooler do they run? Anyone have some wattage comparisons on Palomino versus Thunderbird-C?

Hmm, but of course they'll use the headroom to ramp the thing right back up, right?

I wonder what the difference is between the "desktop" Palomino and the "MP" Palomino... Paul, any insight on that one?

    Always...heh.

AFAIK, the differences between Athlon MP and "Desktop Palomino" are....naming....and probably price too. Hopefully we'll find out in the next month or so (I'm not under NDA, or anything, as I don't have any information about the desktop Pally). Do realize that the Athlon4 and the Athlon MP are the same other than voltage differences (athlon4 being lower), and packaging styles.

    Thumbs up

Another really nice feature on the MP chip (besides the temperature wich is LOW) is the fack that they all come unlocked for overclocking. I think AMD was looking out for us on this one.
