    Default Jumper settings (laptop drives)

I'm adding a laptop LS-120 to a Macintosh Color Classic that I stuffed a PIII 800 into. My problem is this:

IDE 0= IBM Travelstar 25.38Gb laptop HDD (master)
    No Slave

IDE 1= IBM Thinkpad 385's CD drive (master)
    No Slave

I need to add it to one of these channels, but it has no jumpers, and wants to be master.

    My question is:

At the end of the pins on a laptop component, there's a gap, and two sets of pins. Are these master/slave jumpers? If they are, How do you set them (Not labled)? If I can set the CD drive to slave, the LS-120 will be able to take master, and I will be saved.

(somebody slap me... I use the name Qua Digeratti, and I am asking about jumpers.. *L*)

(Qua= Simmilar to, Like. Digeratti= Computer elite.)
People are mean and dangerous. Please, stay away from them as much as you can.

Have you looked at IBM's web site yet? The Travelstar jumper should be easy to find. You may need a little more info about the cd, like a part number.

The problems/trade-offs that I see forthcoming are: 1) if you put the hard drive on slave to the ls-120, you will take a performance hit. Laptop drives are not the fastest to begin with. 2) if you put the cd-rom on slave to the ls-120, you might not be able to boot from cd.

I take it you are transplanting a laptop?

you'll have to knock up websites for the jumper config on the drives, and and try it again.....
