    I Have tried to get a abit VP6 board going, in the process of troubleshooting I noticed on one of my pentium III the thermaltake golden orbs had taken some of the die corner(about the size of a pinhead)off. The board wont post or boot..Have I ruined the cpu or possibly it is another problem, I used a cpu that wasnt damaged and the motherboard still did not boot. Thanks

    Try using the CPU in a different board adn see if it works there

    yeh try taking it and putting in in a dif mobo if that dosent work your screwed.

    If a supposedly working CPU does not work in the mobo as well, then it is likely to be a mobo problem...
    You should check the P3 in another mobo but you would be very unlucky if the chip you describe has ruined it...
