    Question

ok here's the problem... I'm trying to nail down a problem with a pci 128 sound card. It will play cd's fine. It's when it has to play any sort of HDD based music/sound be it MP3 wav rm mpg avi doesn't matter same deal. It seems to run out of buffer room or something, and resorts instead to bouts of ear numbing noise for a few seconds before it resynchs and carries on like nothing ever happened... Now i'v installed new drivers so at least it does resynch.. before it wouldnt and would keep on keepin on as it were... but it still resorts to noise, and it's pissin me off I noticed it does share an irq with the nic (09) but win2k won't allow me to manually fiddle with it (in the brief time i tried to anyway, and yes i do have admin access to the maching I have yet to try rearranging them in their respective pci slots... and i was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to what my best course of action is?

    128 ram
    p3 450
    asus p2b-f mobo
    intel pro 100 nic
creative pci 128 with the es1373 chipset

I suppose i could try changing the irq of the nic at bootup... hmmm maybe ill try that... heh oh well... gimmie suggestions people im gettin ticked

You might want to check your PCI Latency Timer settings in your BIOS. I had the same problem under win2k when the latency timer was set to 0. Putting it on the default value of 32 again should miraculously solve all your problems .
