What's wrong with my dream system?
Funkey - Dual P4's aren't available, nor will they be . Foster, the server version of the P4, will be SMP capable.

Hehehe...computer crashed in the middle of this last time, but that gave me time to think
CPU: AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz
Motherboard: Abit KT7A
RAM: 2xMushkin 128 MB PC150 Rev3
Case: Apple G4 Case
Hard Drives: 4xSeagate 180GB SCSI160 Drives in a RAID 0 Array via an Adaptec SCSI RAID 2100S PCI Card
Optical: A Plextor 12/10/32 SCSI CDRW, A Plextor 40X Wide SCSI CDROM, and a Toshiba SD-M1401 SCSI 10X DVD
Video: ATI Radeon 64MB DDR, a RealMagic Hollywood+ DVD Decoder Card, and a Dazzle Digital Video Creator II
Sound: Hercules Game Theater XP
Network: For the LAN, I'm gonna go with a 3Com Fast Etherlink 10/100 NIC With 3XP Processor. For the net connection, I'm going for an Insanely Fast OC3 Line
Monitor: If I could find a way to do it, I would get the Apple 22 Inch Cinema Display, but since I can't I'll go with a Sony GDM-FW900
Speakers: An easy one... The Klipsch ProMedia V2-400
Input: A Microsoft Intellimouse Optical and a generic keyboard...the 'clicky' ones
That's my baby folks! Ain't she grand...I just wish I could actually buy it. The G4 case would require me to actually buy a G4, so the price on this would be astronomical...but damn it would be nice. Can you say 720 GB!!! Man, that's alot...NERO!!!

This might go against the idea of this topic, but my dream machine is one that's stable, and never has a (major) problem. It'd have to be fast enough to do video capture, without dropping frames, and have enough hard drive to store short clips, but that's all I'd really ask of it, spec wise.

About that G4 case...
I'm pretty sure that won't work. The motherboard is too long. I'm actually looking into this myself right now. The G4 case only has 5 slots, and then you hit the bottom of the case. You'll have to use a MicroATX, and even then, hope that it fits.
And the chassis is expensive too. Mine will cost $130 without the power supply.

Pricing source...
I work with the IT department at my university, and I got that price quote from our Apple-authorized service technician. I agree...the case is nice and sturdy...easy to carry...but I don't have money to splurge on that right now...got other things to worry about...

Mine
In the process of building this now:
1.2 ghz T-Bird (266fsb)@1.6ghz
Abit KT7A Raid
256 mb Crucial PC133 CAS2
Coolermaster ATC 310 Case
Vapochill unit
ATI Radeon 64DDR VIVO
2 IBM 75GXP 30.7 Gig in RAID 0
Plextor 12/10/32A
Pioneer 10X DVD
Floppy--- Hell no!
Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1
Firewire Card
Netgear NIC
Razer Boomslang 1000
Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro
Viewsonic PS790 19" monitor
Klipsch Promedia v2-400
Took the guts out of the brand new Vapochill to put it in the ATC 310. For those of you not familiar with the 310, think two Lian Li PC70's side by side with a 300mm intake fan and about 9 other fans, with enough space to fit an entire Vapochill unit and half a dozen drives too.
