Well last month I sold my Dual PIII 700 @ 933 rig. I feel it’s only appropriate that I get something way better as my dream machine.
Dual Athlon 1.2GHz at 133MHz (VIA 266 Pro)
MSI K7T Master-XX Dual Athlon board w/ VIA 266Pro
256MB DDR SDRAM PC2100
IBM GXP 45GB HD 7200rpm

TDK CD-R
Pioneer DVD
SBLive Platinum
3Com NIC (for my ADSL)
Klipsch ProMedia
Antec SX1030B (Graphite color, I think this site gave it a 9 out of a possible 10?)

I just want to comment on emusictalk's dream comp first
1.5 Ghz P4 : Dunno why you'd want something that cost that much and that isn't all that good.
DVD RAM Drive : Is the standard decided on yet ?
64 Mb Nvidea TNT 2 with the cool goggle things : I'm sure you meant GF2
Choose BBetween Windows Me, 2000, and Red Hat 7.2 at bootup : ack WinME ... personal choice
40" LCD Plasma TV connected to my computer : Lack of high resolution I'd say
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As for me, a dream computer is something that I could actually afford if I really wanted to.
All I want to change/add to my current setup to be happy is :
- 512mb of great RAM
- Lots of HD space
- TBird 1.2gHz
- Mobo for the Tbird ... I'm waiting on that one for now

Well I did say that I suck at all that shuit about Video + Sound Cards.
How that you mention it, I remember I saw something about a low (800x600) maximum resolution for those 40 inch things, but still, 40 inch flat, damn!
I know that the 1.5 P4 costs mad dough, but who gives, cause its me dream machine.

Mmm, completely obscene amounts of money.
- AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.2 GHz (133 FSB, of course)
- ABIT KT7A-RAID
- 768 MB Crucial PC133 SDRAM
- 2 80GB Hard Drives
- Zip250 Internal Slaved to the HD that doesn't have Linux
- 64MB GeForce2 Ultra
- 3Com Fast Etherlink XL -> Maybe a Gigabit Etherlink XL
- 16x/10x/40x Plextor CD-RW
- Pioneer 16x DVD
- Hollywood Plus Decoder Card
- SoundBlaster Live!Platinum 5.1
- Diamond 56k (external hardware) modem
- a floppy drive
- All in a CDI Alaska (Awesome Color Scheme) with Cooling
- Monitor:
- Let's be honest. The only thing this baby deserves is a home theater
- Speakers:
- Once again, Dolby Surround sound in the home theater.
Oh yeah and its running either Linux (Made from Scratch by Me) by itself, or it will dual boot Win2K and Linux with 2K only getting 40GB on the first drive. (The other part is for MP3s)
Just my two cents.

Well, I don't like Intel and I don't like microsoft. Hmm, I guess I'll just have to deal with a little slower and a lot cheaper.
