    Default Wireless network, dropped signals

    Setup:

D-link DI 711 router with, dwl 650 pcmcia card.

I'm having a problem with my laptop dropping the signal, requiring a router reboot to get the signal back. this happens when I'm using the internet and have NOT moved the computer.

The strange thing is that the signal strength meter will still show "green", or above 30% signal strength, but I still am not able to access the internet until I reboot the router.

Anybody know how I can stop this from happening?

    thanks.

Try moving the router. I don't know why it needs to get rebooted so often, but it obviously is having transmission problems, perhaps because of interference. If you move it and it still operates funny, it may just be broken.

Make sure you have the latest firmware on the AP and client
card(s) as well the latest drivers where applicable. If it continues try to get an RMA if you still can. Interference is a possibility I suppose but if you have interference then a reboot wouldn't likely fix the problem.

Definatly update the firmware. Most of the APs ship with some really crummy firmware--some of the older linksys APs have increased signal significantly, with better firmware!
