    Default socket errors

    Hello guys,

I keep getting socket error messages from clients using outlook express as they try to log into the mailserver to pop mail, the Software initially finds the host and when it fails to do so it gererates the followinf error meassae. What cause this error message and how can one sort it out?

    error message type:
"The connection to the server has failed. Account '*.*.com', Server: '*.*.com', Protocol: POP, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E."

This is not the exact error but that if is similar to the one that i usually get.

    Louis

Are you hiding the mailserver names? If you're not, then those asterisks shouldn't be there. That's not a valid domain name.

The asterisks were to cover the domain name... But the situation continues. Any suggestions as to how to get around it?

Well, it's just as you said - Outlook Express isn't finding the mail server. They may not be using the right name, or perhaps something is up with your DNS server.

Specifically, all that message says is that it couldn't reach the server. That usually means the server name was mistyped.
