Redundant Array
Im just wondering or speculating how exactly RAID works, I know that there are 2 additional IDE ports for RAID and the rest of the 2 normally on the Motherboard by default, Do the other controllers on the motherboard work as Normal? , for example could you put 4 CD rom drives i.e Optical drives , whether DVD or CD RW . and then connect 4 drives in RAID 0 stripping by connecting them on the RAID connectors??

Maybe I can help...
I run 2 arrays(0+1 maybe?)
I have 2 of the following (4 drives total)
2 x 60gb ATA133 Maxtor 7200RPM drives which are striped. So basically this makes 1 120gb drive with twice the performance of a single drive.
The other set of 2 is being used to mirror this one. This way if my stripe fails, I have a mirror from which I can restore.
