Is there any real benefit? I think for hardware it might enable the warranty, but what do you get from software. It's not really a benefit to be the first to be notified of updates and other new products, especially if they are not free. So I guess I am wondering if anyone has received anything good from this. Or oppositely, has received lots of spam; email, mail, or phone?

Register? Bah. I can't tell you when was the last time I ever registered a product save Windows XP. You are absolutely correct in thinking that nothing good ever comes from it.

I mean, they entice you to register stating that you will be notified of the latest product updates and have access to technical support but c'mon, when was the last time a company ever emailed you to tell you that an update for their product was available? Microsoft maybe but only then it's usually a serious bug fix.

I'd rather come here for tech support than have some underpaid, script reading, MSCE wannabe technician tell me to update my drivers.
