    Angry AMD 1800XP OS Problem

Well to start off, thanks in advance to anyone who can help remedy my dilema. I recently built an AMD system that has a ECS Mobo and a AMD XP1800, running 512mb of ram, 60GB 7200 DiamondMax and a Tornado GeForce4 420MX. I initially installed Windows XP Corporate on this system and Networked it with a Win2K Pro setup. I was having Networking Difficulty, so I installed XP on my 2nd setup. I continued to have Networking problems, so I revamped both with a fresh copy of 2000 Pro. Now to my problem, the performance of my new system is really odd. With XP, as I added more stuff to it, the performance went down noticeably. With 2K Pro, it started off fine, but I add a few progs and its performance seems worse than my 600mhz Celeron Setup. What could be the problem?

What programs did you install? Did you reformat bettween each OS load, or leave the filesystem as is? I can probably help ya if I have this info.

I formatted between each. The only things I have installed on the 2K setup (which was the same on XP) is: Adobe Photoshop 7, Flash MX, Dreamweaver MX, Anarchy Online, Grokster, AIM, MSN, OfficeXP, and of course my Video Drivers and Mobo drivers, other than that.... there hasnt been anything. I have defragged also Disk Keeper 7 Workstation.

Did you use the latest drivers for everything? Remember that 2K taked longer to boot up, but once your in the OS things are pretty much the same.
