Default Voodoo 5500 choppy video and sound

    Hi,

I am posting this thread for my friend.

He has the voodoo 5500 and soundblaster live and runs win2k. We did all updates available for win2k SP2 and a fix for 3dfx voodoo 5500 in the windows update site. Also we installed 4in1 drivers.

But everytime emperor battle for dune starts the video and sound is choppy.

Are you aware of any issues that could result in such situation?

    Thanks

Why aren't you posting this question in Westwood's forums?

Sometimes it's easier to make a post in a forum that one is comfortable with. Heck, I hate registering for 80000000 forums. If I can get my answers at a place I visit frequently, why go elsewhere?

I'm not saying you're wrong. THeir forums are more likely to get a response that is useful, and faster, but that doesn't mean that a place like this doesn't make sense.

You didn't say what cpu and mobo your friend has but I gather that he may have an Athlon with the Via southbridge. Make sure your friend installs the latest Via 4-in-1 drivers, version 4.31 or later, which you can get at www.viahardware.com
Check for newer version of SB Live! drivers at www.creative.com
Check for newer BIOS version at his motherboard manufacturer's website.
Check for newer game patches for the game in question.
