    Help

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem that has started after I did a clean install of Windows ME. Everything seemed to go like clockwork and it all seems to be running okay except my screen wants to refresh itself every 5 or 6 minutes (it seems like that is what it's doing). It happens when in applications or when I'm at the desktop, It doesn't do it in games which is something I guess. I have a Geforce 3 Ti so I decided to install the Nvidia and Directx drivers again. Cant think of much else I can do, Dxdiag all seems to be fine as well. Any ideas would be welcome.

Odd problem... Describe in detail what "refresh" means because I don't think I quite understand what you mean.

Does the monitor makes a noise similar to when you set a different resolution (ie 1024x768 from 800x600) and the screen turns black for a fraction of a second?

Just a random guess - are you running Active Desktop with content on it?

Hi Rob, Thanks for the reply.
Well to be honest I dont know if it's refreshing or not, it just seems like that is what it's doing. It doesn't make a noise and it's similar to when you press the show 'desktop icon' when you have no applications running. It just flashes for a fraction of a second. I do have Active desktop running but It's no different from what I had set up before the install. Dont really know what else to say about it really, It is a weird problem.

Just curious. Did you up your screen refresh rate under Control Panel/ Display/ Settings/ Advanced/ Monitor to 75 Hz or above?

Nope the refresh rate is set to optimal just like before. That will be above 75 I guess. My monitor is a Iiyama S900 19 In.

Try manually setting the refresh to 85hz.

Also it might be that the monitor is auto-degausing itself...
