Help again
Ok im designing a new computer. I am going to have of course a cd rom and cd burner, but what i am looking into is a dvd-rw. if i get a dvd-r, will i have to have a dvd-rom to make copys of dvds?

WEll, you could get one if you wanted to, but the DVD-r can read DVDs as well as write, so you can do that just fine.

well that would mean i would have to rip the dvd onto my comp
then take ito ut put in blank cd then burn it. If i had just a cd-rom will i be able to jsut make a direct copy. or will i need a dvd-rom

I am pretty sure that you will need to have both a DVD-ROM drive and a DVD burner to make a direct copy of a DVD, but you can do it without the DVD ROM, as you said, but it is a big pain. DVD-ROM drives are very cheap now, and it's always good to have  .
