Pretty much the short answer is, you can't. Not anything against you, but companies simply do not sell laptop parts. If you find soemething, let me know, I'd be curious, but as far as I know, laptops are pretty much impossible to build.

Default Might be a better idea to buy one...

Personally, I would recommend just buying one, for the warranty if nothing else. I bought a Dell laptop several years ago with a 3 year warranty and within 3 weeks of buying it the LCD had a dead pixel. Were you using a laptop that you built and some part had problems you could be out of luck. Plus the service programs from many of the lap top makers are excellent, they will come out to your house the next day and replace everything for free, or if need be, they will send you a new laptop!

Also, if you happen to have a Costco near you, they have a great return policy. You can buy a computer there, and any time up to 6 months from when you bought it you can trade it in for something newer. So basically you can get a new computer every 6 months, no questions asked, for the initial cost of the first laptop. I have several friends with computers from there and they go in every few months and get an upgrade.
