Why is it in any game that uses hardware acceleration, and all my DOS games, everything is to dark to see? In Windows I have to set my brightness to 150% to be able to see, and I can't play DOS games anymore because I can't see anything. (Imagine Warcraft 2 and not being able to find oil because it is the same color as the water - black). I really would like to know what is causing this. I have tried all drivers, even windows ones for standard stuff like Super VGA drivers. It is a Diamon Viper V770 Non-Ultra. Thanks for your time.

Could it be a monitor setting like contrast or is that what you meant by changing the brightness to %150? Have you tried changing things like your refresh rate and the like. What type of monitor and other hardware do you have? Also, if you can get your hands on one, try a different video card. Maybe there is something wrong with the one you are using. Doing that should narrow down what the cause could be. If a different vid card does the same thing, then you know it is not the vid card. Let us know what is up.

yeah
Try the monitor setting thing that greatmatt was talking about. Back when I had my TNT2 sitting in my Rig, it worked fine.

As far as I know the old TNTs and TNT2s are just naturally dark. It makes the colors look richer but it's annoying having others see fine in what looks like a pitch black area to you. What I did with my TNT was I atleast doubled the gamma in games (ie 1.0 is anywhere from 2.0-50) and then they were fine. I still have a problem seeing oil in War2 but after a few games you should got much better at locating it.

Thanks for all your help guys, and my monitor is a Daytek V52 15" and I can't try another TNT2 because none of my friends have one (they all have standard ones the come with Compaqs and stuff) and my brother doesn't even have an AGP slot, he's running a Maxigamer Pheonix (Voodoo Banshee). And for the brightness setting, I go under Color Correction in the display properties menu.

I have a Creative TNT2 Ultra and I don't have a problem. Did the drivers on your card come packaged with some sort of color calibration? What about messing with the Gamma settings? That would make the games brighter. Your monitor probably doesn't have any problems as you would at least be able to see differences in color.

I've seen where Banshee cards are dark but?
I have a Diamond Viper 770 as well and it's plenty bright. I have had Banshee cards which were very dark and it was simply the signal the card sends. Since it's not a Banshee, you should be able to get it brighter? It's possible it's your monitor contributing to the darkness or as suggested above, there's something wrong with the card.

I have a Voodoo Banshee and a Viewsonic monitor with no problems with brightness/darkness, colours or contrast.
Presumably it is the combination of particular monitors and cards that create problems.
Does your monitor have colour correction settings? ie 9300K vs 6550K- if so, it's worth trying things on the other setting to see if that improves matters. Making sure that Windows has the appropriate settings for your monitor (rather than just Plug and Play monitor) could also help.

TNT2 Darkness
well, I got a new video card now..... a Radeon VE.....(wanted TV out anyway ) it's a little better now...... but still dark.... the brightness and contrast are both maxed out on my monitor, and using different color profiles doesn't do anything....

My friend had a similar problem. It turned out his monitor was next to dead
