Fryed Mother Board or Processor!
All right I started out at the computer show to buy a DVD-Rom then I saw a ThermalTake Volcano 9 for $19 and figured I would go for it. I get home and install the DVD-Rom the I take the old heat sink off clean off the old thermal grease with a Q-tip and some alcohol, hook it all up then turn it on. It runs for about half a min the power cuts and well that's all. I tried every thing I could think of and I cant get my computer to come up. I built my comp new then added better stuff. It was a ECS Mobo SiS 735 chipset, 2 sticks of DDR 2100 256MB each, Sound Blaster Live!, GF4 MX 420 64MB PCI, Creative Labs 56K v.92 Modem, and a AMD XP 1700 Processor. I went out and bought a power supply tester and the power supply if fine, I tryed the reset the BIOS, unplug the stuff then plug it back in, like I said every thing I could think of I tried. I guess I shocked it or something. If you have help please give it. If the Mother Board or Processor got fried do you think it could have killed all my PCI cards, HDD or CD roms?
