1600x1200 is slower than 1280x1024 because you are increasing the resolution. I would save my money and get the 18” and use things like AA and AF to enhance the quality of the games. At the slightly lower resolution, you wouldn’t take as big a performance hit.
Other good choices include NEC and Samsung, and while you are at it look for the lowest response time and along with a DVI connector.
