    Dummy is off the scale
    Lightbulb Ram Update

    I've got an Intel P4 1.8GHz CPU,
a Gigabyte motherboard (GA-8SIMLP) with SIS 961 chipset.
    Windows XP PRO SP 2.
    1 stick of Samsung 256MB PC-2100 333MHz DDR RAM

    My questions are:

    Can i use anything else than PC-2100, 333MHz ?
    (like a 1024MB PC-3200 400MHz)

The motherboard specs says that i should use PC-2100, 266MHz DDR RAM. What's happening if i put PC-3200 400MHz in it ?

    Thanks

As far as I know, it'll clock down to the PC2100 speed, it shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone else back this up, or am I wrong?

The 3200 just slows down to 2100 speeds. You just can't use 1600 RAM in it.

You can almost always put faster DDR RAM in a slower board. Just not the other way around.
