I have a 1.2 Ghz T-Bird running on a KK266 Iwill motherboard, 512 MB PC133 SDRAM CS2, GEForce2GTS 32 MB DDR, Plextor 16/10/40, Creative 52X CDROM, SB Live Value, Creative Soundblaster ISA modem, IBM 100ATA HD with Win98se.
Whenever I load fax or other telephone software (with exception of device drivers) for the Winmodem, the CPU temp climbs pretty fast: I can watch it go from idle temp of 85F to 120F in minutes! Same thing happened when I was using a SupraExpress PCI Winmodem: drivers only, fine. If I added software, e.g., fax, the CPU temp would soar!
Anyone else had this experience with Athlon Socket A Thunderbirds and Winmodem application software? Is a hard modem the answer?
Thx!
