The New Frontpage And Tech News Coverage
If you are a frequent visitor of SL then you may have noticed the design change on our homepage. Let me be the first to welcome you to our new homepage look as well more personalized news coverage to bring you one step closer to the computing and technology community.
Let me explain what the changes were and why they were made.
First off, our old homepage just had our latest 10 pieces of content. This was very useful to those of you that had come to our site to see what's new, but what it lacked was some personality and a sense of community...And that's what we are here for, right?
On the new homepage you see that we do have our latest content at the top of the page. How that will work is you will either see the last 2 days of content OR the last 2 pieces of content. For example, say we post a review on a video card on Thursday and then on Friday we post an A Guru's World Column and a heatsink review. You will see 3 new pieces of content on the frontpage. Now say on Saturday we don't post anything new, the video card review would be taken off the frontpage and you would see just the A Guru's World Column and heatsink review. BUT WAIT! Notice the "More Content" text below, this will show the last 10 pieces of content, so if you miss anything you can always check there.
You will also notice that the news is located on the homepage as well. This will be a mixture of tech news as well as news about the site. We won't be doing news in our old format anymore either. Notice the post below mine by JonnyGURU on the Northwood coming out next week. That will be the general style a post is in. We will cover certain news that is big and that we choose, and give our personal twist on it...as Jonny did.
One of the coolest parts about it is you'll notice the ability to post and view comments. This is all tied into our forums, so if you are at our homepage you can either read the news there and click the comments button OR just click a headline on the side column and it will take you right to the thread on our forums.
Alright, well enough about the technical side of things.
Post comments to this and let me know what you guys think!
